About Westborough, Massachusetts
Westborough, a town of 18,272 in Worcester County, was the birthplace of Eli Whitney, inventor of the cotton gin. The role of Westborough as an industrial center continues today, and the town is the home of companies such as AstraZeneca, Dover Electric, Proteon, Genzyme, EMC Corp., IBM, PFPC, Bose Corp. and American Superconductor.
Westborough is served by MBTA commuter rail between Worcester and Boston. It boasts several buildings and neighborhoods on the National Register of Historic Places and its residents have relatively high per capita and family incomes, according to the U.S. Census.
